I’m a therapist, and I’m really interested in seeing what research emerges on the psychological effects of semaglutide drugs (if possible to untangle from the psychological shift that happens when you see how differently you get treated based on body size.)

We don’t often get to hear from men (making an educated assumption about your pronouns!) about their struggles with disordered eating—this is a good reminder that living in a society that venerates thinness is pretty toxic for everyone, not just women. Thanks for sharing, and happy that it’s been so helpful for you 💙

I'm patiently waiting for those studies as well. There's still a part of me that worries we'll wake up in ten years and this will have done something horrible, but I think that about all my meds. I talk about this kind of thing pretty openly with my friends and a couple of other men i know who have the same sort of issues — but always helps to write it out. Thank you for reading!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I was just having this discussion with two friends, one last night and one this morning. As an alcoholic, I'll be interested to see as the research comes in how these medications affect other addictions. Best wishes to you, John!
