My Elite Faves Are on Sale (Woo)
A few of my favorite recommendations from the past couple of weeks, but cheaper.
Look, it’s Black Friday. Cyber Monday is coming. And it is the time to shop. If you are uninterested in shopping, then you can close this out. I appreciate that this is perhaps the most annoying weekend in your inbox. But let’s remember that Black Friday and Cyber Monday is how millions of families find themselves able to shop for their holiday gifts. Or themselves which is also fine.
The big ticket item to revisit is the Banana Republic coat. I haven’t shut up about how handsome this thing is, but it’s currently 40% off. This doesn’t mean it’s cheap, but a cashmere/wool coat at this price is pretty special. Since last night, it has already sold out in several sizes but is still available in medium and large.

Some more outerwear sales include the extremely luxe Todd Snyder suede jacket at 30% off and the extremely affordable American Eagle denim jacket also at 30% off. I firmly believe that every man should have a solid trucker style jacket. Exactly how fancy you go is of course, up to you. And don’t forget suede can be tricky to maintain. But damn, it’s nice.

In the button-front shirts department, prices are a little more generous. The classic Brooks Brothers, NN07, and Old Navy ones I mentioned in a previous newsletter are all on sale. Easy wins for some menswear-inclined guys on your list. Or…yourself (obviously). I prefer mine a little oversized. The oxfords from Brooks Brothers and Old Navy are as classic as you can get, but don’t discount the insane quality of fabrics you can get from NN07 — soft, supple, luxurious!

Sweaters tend to get picked over fast — and that’s exactly what’s happening now. There are just a few of the plush and brushed Acne Sweater left and my gut is that the Todd Snyder cashmere ones will go fast at 30% off. I haven’t discussed the Alex Mill Jordan sweater yet, but keep an eye on it. It might go on sale before the weekend is over.

For sneakers, the Stan Smiths via Adidas look like they’re still full price. But, the Common Projects Achilles are 15% off at Ssense and you can snag a pair of Nike Air Force 1s for 30% off. Just make sure you’re 100% clear on the sizing you’re looking for!

Meanwhile, there are are some good deals to be had when it comes to loafers. I don’t love the buy more save more model, but Saks is offering a $75 if you spend over $150. So, if you go ahead and drop almost $1,000 on the Guccis, you’ll get that gift card. (You can see why I detest these kinds of sales). In brighter news, though, the Blackstock & Weber beauties are up to 25% off and the GH Bass loafers are 30% off. Have at it!

These two vases are also on sale. The Well-Versed one is a funny slightly surreal take on classic china patterns, with a preppy touch of striping. (Over the Moon, which has an incredible selection is also 20% off right now when you use code HAPPYSHOPPING.) If you’re looking for something a little more streamlined (or pink), this wavy vase from Maison Balzac is also on sale.

As far as previously mentioned items go, that’s about everything that’s on sale. Naturally there are a whole lot more things to peruse. While I wish I could spend more time perusing the list, I’d rather raid the fridge right now. That said, here is a quick and dirty round up of some other things I have my eye on.

Top Row: A confession: We don’t like silver in our house. We are a gold household — it’s warmer and somehow feels more inviting. Very much a fan of this 24k plated cocktail shaker from New York Hot Girl store Big Night. (I have witnessed some truly batshit conversations in this store — “is that like an APC shirt from 2018?”) (What does that even mean?!) But the store is cute and fun, the perfect place for gifts and it’s currently 15% off sale items. More in the kitchen space, a simple and festive holiday mug with an initial which may not be for everybody on your list, but makes a worthy gift for any hostess or as a mass gift for cousins or “not-so-important” relatives. (This is my shop.) And I love this cooky retro clock for offices by Schoolhouse Electric, currently 20% off.
Middle Row: I’m a big believer that holiday gifts should be dosed in nostalgia. This stoneware Tetris cube by Dar Proyectos (Peruvian, I think) is the perfect thing for somebody who is grown up, aesthetically-minded, but still needs some play time (30% off at Nordstrom). If they’re more musically-inclined I am here to say that these Jabra headphones are the absolute best. They’re designed for heavy use and have stood up to intense workouts, rain, sweat and more. They charge insanely fast in the case. The sound quality? Impeccable. I even have a back up pair just in case! On sale for 40% off. They may be on backorder, so be sure you can have them in time for the holidays. Finally, as a dog owner and generally mobile person, I’m always looking for a sling bag. The market is saturated, but so many of them are just…ugh…too much. This one from AWAY is exactly what you need and nothing more. Will it be filled with dog treats? Probably, but that’s none of your business! (25% off, but it is final sale, so be warned!)
Bottom Row: Mark the Tailor is a literal brand new brand that debuted this past Monday. Their story includes a long family history of tailoring, excellence and attention to detail.
at recently interviewed founders Lindsay and Adam. Whilst their clothes look incredible, I was instantly drawn to this t-shirt which appears to have near perfect proportions! A unicorn! It is not currently on sale, so forgive me this one. Then, this pancake candle is just a lovely and charming trinket for anybody. It smells of salted caramel and whiskey and honestly makes a great home accessory once the wax is gone. It’s part of the big 40% off Urban Outfitters sale and clocks in at just $16. Last but not least, this cactus match holder and strike — like the pancake candle, it’s charming and unassuming. It’s particularly good for the coastal cowgirls of the world, but would work in any eclectic home (on sale for $20 at 30% off).

And of course, don’t forget the wrapping paper. My wife and I have been designing Hanukkah and Christmas wrapping paper for a few months and our store is up and running on Etsy. It is all made to order so apologies in advance that it’s more expensive than your usual stuff!
I’m going to continue sharing gifts along with more content here on Browser History, as market editing is a big part of my background. But also keep an eye out for upcoming menswear stuff over at ’ I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving and are fat and happy.
Until next time,
JJ
